Us4//U2
review gig at Mr Kyps on Saturday 27th Dec 2008
//
It
takes a lot of courage to be able to stand onstage and play someone else’s
work. Let alone an entire set list consisting of it. When Us4 took the
stage at Mr Kyps on 27th December 2008, they immediately broke out into
the popular song ‘Vertigo,’ The vocalist showed a huge enthusiasm
to the music and was very encouraging towards the audience. The rest of
the band also had spectacular stage presence and not once was the wrong
note played. Their set list consisted of all of the classics including
With Or Without You, Sunday Bloody Sunday, The Sweetest Thing and A Beautiful
Day.
//
Towards
the end of the night, the band had the entire body of the audience jumping
to the beat and chanting along to each song, the atmosphere ecstatic.
As the band made their exit and the house lights faded up, you could tell
the show had been enjoyed by many and that the band would be welcome back
soon. Performing each song perfectly, Us4 are defiantly a credit to their
idols.

It
had been a while since id been to mr kyps and it was the first time since
the new refurbishment. I must say i am very impressed.... As usual an
awsome gig, i decided to bring a friend of mine who is more of a u2 fan
than i am and she really loved it. A brillant atmosphere to be part of!
Not being a massive U2 fan i didnt know all the songs, but all the ones
i did know were really well played and Us4/U2 did a really good job of
keeping us entertained! The use of smoke and strobe lighting was very
effective and really added to the atmosphere.

20th December 2005 at Mr Kyps, Poole, Dorset
// Strange name for a five piece band aint
it? So what I really want to know is who is it that's unworthy
of credit ? ( answers on a post card please).It must take a lot of self
belief to play one of the best
rock songs of the year as not only your opening gambit, but to sling it
in almost as an afterthought
as part of your encore. These fine musicians not only get away with it,
they could almot just play
the opening bars and let the crowd get on with it on their own! Now I've
been to a gig or two at
Mr Kyps this year but for me last night took the biscuit, (with the exception
of Mountain who are
a league apart, and possibly any gig between now and New Year).
//
The evening could just as easily have been promoted as a U2 karaoke night,
with almost everybody
joining in word for word throughout the entire evening, I say almost everybody
because my own
interest in U2 only really started with the latest album, but I was suprised
by how many numbers
I recognised even if I couldn't name them. It did occur to me that a couple
of numbers may well
have been performed better than the originals, but who am I to pass such
judgement? As tribute
bands go these guys are the dogs b******s!
//
With the bass lines threatening to split my sternum, spot on vocals, drums
that would likely as not
waken the dead from the nearby church yard, guitar that must make The
Edge edgy for his own position
in the band and slightly understated keyboards (or is it too many good
gigs robbing me of my top
end hearing range?) this band would give the originals a good run for
their money, although I do
have a certain amount of respect for Bono's political stand points. But
let's leave politics out of
a good night's rock'n'roll. Nights like this are moments to treasure,
so keep up the much appreciated
good work Us4//U2 and the crew at Kyps. Merry Xmas everybody!

they
have a great recreation of Bono!!"
